An inspection took place on Friday, November 10 at Yummies Pizza and Kebab takeaway in Landgate, Rye and there were so many faults that Yummies received a 0 rating for their hygiene practices.

A report was requested by Rye News following a freedom of information request and it stated the areas in which the kebab takeaway had failed and what needed to be done to improve, a daunting task. However, the manager was determined to take on all the areas that needed correction and many improvements have been implemented: in particular members of staff have been given the correct training for the jobs they are carrying out.

A further compliance visit has taken place and the inspector was able to report: “I am pleased to see the improvements that you have made. Keep up the standards of hygiene. I would encourage you to apply for a re-rating to improve on your current one.”

Adil Varli, the owner of Yummies, said today that when Simon Edwards came back to inspect the shop again he said it had reached a level 4. He is now aiming for a level 5 when it is inspected again in the next few weeks.
