A massive “thank” you to all who have donated to the Rye Food Bank either directly to the food bank’s own bank account (details below) or via the Jempson Foundation.

Since March 20 when the Jempson’s food bank appeal was launched a fantastic £6,350 has been donated.  Chris Emson, manager of Rye Food Bank expresses her appreciation on behalf of all of the Rye volunteers.  “It’s so amazing, people are so generous to us and it means so much to all the families.”

Chris was presented with another cheque last Friday, May 22.

We are living in unprecedented times and the demand for emergency help from the food bank is four times as much as it was before the lockdown.  While some parents have managed to return to work in the past week, further referrals from Rother District Council have kept the numbers constant.

This week there were 59 orders from families representing 100 adults and 98 children.  Thank you to everyone who calls round with donations to the Baptist Hall on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, your friendly smiles and heartfelt generosity provide support at a difficult time.

Donations can be sent to the Rye Branch of Bexhill Food Bank at Barclays bank, sort code 20-54-25, account number 83501116, the Jempson Foundation or cheques to Rye Food Bank c/o 24 North Salts, Rye.
