Rye Baptist Church was full on Friday for the Women’s World Day of Prayer, this year organised by women in the Philippines. It was good to be greeted in the Filipino tongue by Zenni Mohammed of Camber, local Street Pastor. Members of all the Churches Together in Rye took part in the service which focused on the contrasts, as seen on the illustrated service pamphlet, between the rich and poor, shown by the lush vegetation, beautiful beaches and plentiful harvests and the grey changing face of industry, destitution and poverty – an uneven balance resulting in great unfairness and the need for justice. Featured in the picture are Rev Teresa Munro, who conducted the service, Rev Fiona Gill, Baptist minister and readers Anne Wood and Frances Catt.
