With two tragedies already this summer, Camber Sands was so nearly the scene of a third on Wednesday September 7. A Spanish family of four, parents and their two young children were rescued from the sea. The incident occurred at Broomhill, the eastern end of Camber Sands, when the group was overtaken by the incoming tide and began to panic. An instructor from the Kite Surf Centre by the Broomhill car park happened to be on the beach at the time and spotted them quite close to the shore. He dashed to the rescue, carrying the two young children and leading the parents to safety. Photo : Rye News library

That is a great story and it is a pity you didn’t give more details. I hope the rescuer gets an award
