Plans are being finalised for a garden fete to be held at the beautiful Fairlight Hall by the Friends of Conquest Hospital on Sunday, August 28 from 10am to 4:30pm to raise much needed funds for our local NHS hospital.
The event is one of the first major fundraising events organised by the friends since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The garden fete will include tours of the extensive gardens, a specialist plant fair and horticultural society stands as well as family fun stalls such as a tombola, crock smash and coconut shy.
Cream teas will be available, as well as ice creams and Pimms & Prosecco. Entertainment will be provided by Sussex brass band, the Silver Swans and more with an outside broadcast kindly provided by the Conquest hospital radio. The friends grand summer raffle will be drawn at the event, with over 30 prizes – the top prize being £500.
The proceeds from the event will go to the the friends’ current project, Conquest 21, which aims to refurbish all 21 garden courtyards of the hospital. The friends strongly believe the staff and patients deserve beautiful surroundings and that there’s ample evidence to prove that natural spaces help with a speedier recovery.
Tickets are available for purchase on Eventbrite at a cost of £3 per adult, children go free.
The friends are grateful for the ongoing support from Fairlight Hall, and sponsorship for this event from local businesses including Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors, Blackbrooks Garden Centre, Bartlett’s SEAT, Marshall-Tufflex, Sussex Fruits and Hastings Cocktail Club.
