After a winter of meetings and planning, the activity is now getting underway for the 2025 cricket season.
Last week there was a window of opportunity for the square to get its first cut of the year and a helpful addition of fertiliser to take advantage of the imminent arrival of spring. Very soon the outfield will be getting its first cut. This work is now being carried out by the club as Rother no longer provide maintenance of any sports fields. Our thanks to Adam Stunt for his skills during this period before the start of the season in April.
This Friday evening, February 28, the three adult league teams start their indoor nets at Claremont Senior School in Bodiam for 7 weeks. There are 4 lanes available. The club welcomes new members to come along and try out with us. We offer cricket at a variety of standards, with the best facilities both on and off the field in the area.
On Wednesday March 5 we commence junior practices at Rye Sports Centre. This is a great opportunity for young people to try out the sport of cricket. The club has delivered 12 weeks of cricket in Rye Primary’s PE curriculum on Monday afternoon to over 120 young people. We look forward to some of those joining us and trying out our offer of 2 weeks of free tasters.
The sessions are 6.00-7.00pm for school years 3/4/5/6, and 7.00-8.00pm for school years 7/8/9. The cost is £50 for existing members, and those who enjoy the tasters and wish to continue, it is £35. These sessions are subsidised thanks to the Rye Fund and The Ted Baker Trust Grants.
