Help the clean up

Over the coming weeks there are several opportunities for people to help with the important job of beach cleaning in our lovely area.

It is always a depressing sight to see our beaches scattered with rubbish dumped by visitors, as the last few days at Camber have shown, or washed ashore by the tides and storms. But we can do something about it thanks to organised beach cleaning days.

Romney Marsh Litter Picking Watch have organised beach cleaning days at Greatstone and Lydd. These will be family friendly events with free parking and the option to pick as much or as little as you want or even just pop by and say hello. All equipment is provided and there are free refreshments too.

Romney Marsh Litter Picking Watch has been granted permission to access the foreshore on the MOD range at Lydd to continue removing debris washed up by winter storms.  Bags, pickers, health and safety advice and refreshments will be provided.

Other litter picking organisations continue to do their sterling work. The work of Strandliners is covered in an article by Xavier Marrs in this issue.
