High Tide

A spring tide, fuelled by high winds of the last few days pushed water up Channel and into Rye Bay causing an unusually high tide on Wednesday May 16. The effect was felt most at Rye Harbour where water crept close to the little red-roofed hut so beloved by local artists and well up the RNLI slip. The moment was captured on camera by our correspondent Carol Macdonald who commented that it was the highest tide she could remember.

The water covers the Sailing Club hard and encroaches on the RNLI jetty and slipway, left of picture
