Winchelsea Neighbourhood Watch would like to know if anyone can identify the man in the picture.
On Thursday, April 7, he was seen acting suspiciously around Hiham Gardens in Winchelsea, repeatedly walking past and scanning houses. He was then discovered in the garden of one of the houses. When challenged, he jumped over the fence and ran away. Shortly afterwards, he returned to the van in the picture and drove off. But he was caught on a phone camera from one of the houses he had been reconnoitring.
Winchelsea had its first burglaries last year for several years and its Neighbourhood Watch is on high alert. Burglaries often pick up in the spring. It seems that burglars also like the good weather and prefer the long days, when they can get a clear view of potential targets.
