A cheque for £300 has been donated by the Rye and District Lions to the local food bank. The cheque was presented to Penny Kingham by Sue Clay President, of Rye and District Lions, along with  Lions Bill Coleman, Carol Ward and Gill McGannan.

Receiving this donation just before Easter will enable the volunteers to purchase some special treats for children in addition to the usual range of basic groceries and toiletries.

The Rye branch of the food bank operates from the Baptist Church in Cinque Port Street on Wednesdays from 1pm to 3pm. Clients requiring this service come from Rye and surrounding villages. The food bank is available for individuals and families who are struggling to feed themselves

If you or anyone you know requires the support of this service it can be accessed by obtaining a Red Voucher from one of the following:-

  • Your local Health Visitor
  • Rye Childrens’ Centre
  • Rye College/Rye Primary school
  • Winchelsea school
  • Playden school
  • HARC available at Tilling Green Centre on Wednesday morning 10-12am
