Romney Marsh Morris dancers (above) present Sue Humberstone, Shepway Foodbank manager, with a cheque for £1,088.71, the money that members had raised during their shows throughout 2019. In presenting it, Dave Comley, Squire of Romney Marsh Morris, stated that the need for food banks is getting ever greater. The food bank operates locally out of the Romney Marsh community church, where the local Morris group practice on regular occasions.

During 2019 Romney Marsh Morris have held over 10 “Foodbank Sundays” where members have brought in donations of food and household supplies, on top of the monetary collections made at pubs where they have danced or sung. Prior to Christmas they held a special charity evening to raise money while also running a fund for members to donate to instead of sending Christmas cards.

On receiving the cheque, Sue Humberstone thanked Romney Marsh Morris and added that Shepway Foodbank fed over 3,500 people last year.

This year Romney Marsh Morris will be raising funds for Littlestone RNLI.
