The Mayor of Rye, Cllr Michael Boyd held his annual Christmas reception at the Town Hall last Friday, December 14.
The guest list comprised those who had contributed to the life of the town during the previous year and included town, district and county councillors, our member of Parliament, chairmen of many of the Rye societies and organisations and even descended so far as to include the fourth estate, in the form of the editor of this paper.
Musical entertainment was, as usual, supplied by talented students from Rye College and, later in the evening, by carols from an adult choir which included our town crier, proving that his voice is as tuneful as it is carrying.
An informative as well as entertaining evening, with the chance to catch up with old acquaintances and make new ones.
Thank you, Mr Mayor

Many thanks for the kind words – just to let you know that the group I sang with are called “Ye Olde Victorian Carol-singers.” We are a group of friends who get together every Christmas to sing in Victorian costume to raise money for local charities. We were delighted to be able to entertain the Mayor and his guests last Friday.
