Following the postponement of its AGM last year due to the nationwide lockdown in the initial stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, Rye Medical Centre was able to stage the event this year on Wednesday, November 17, at the Hub on Rye Hill.

The event was attended by three members of the practice staff including one senior GP as well as the current members of the PPG committee who were eligible for re-election including the chair, the treasurer and the acting secretary.

Practice manager Jackie Kempton delivered an informative report on the medical practice that highlighted the difficult circumstances that have prevailed for almost two years and how all of the staff including GPs, paramedics, nurses, dispensers and receptionists had risen to the occasion magnificently in the face of unprecedented challenges.

Everyone who was in attendance was in fulsome agreement and, indeed, this was greeted with an impromptu round of well-deserved applause led by Patient Participation Group (PPG) chair Julie Dockerill. This was followed by the re-election of Julie Dockerill along with treasurer Rosemarie Roberts and committee members Dr Ben Chishick, David Lovejoy and Richard Byham as well as the formal confirmation of Tony Dockerill as Secretary.

A number of patients attending the meeting showed an interest in joining the committee. However, there are six vacancies and anyone interested should contact the PPG via the medical centre’s website.
