A new fish shop has opened at 1, Rope Walk, writes Kenneth Bird. If the external display of fruit and vegetables catches the eye, just look inside at the cabinet of tempting seafood. The shop is run by Dean Vickerman of Rye Fishmongers and Rye Smoked Salmon, who has lived in Rye for 32 years. He specialises in fresh fish catches straight from the shore, and follows the same policy of local sourcing for his fruit and vegetables. In addition, he stocks vacuum packed Scotch salmon which is in great demand, he says.
