A new welfare service is now available in Rye. Welfare services previously available at the library are now available at Rye Baptist church hall every Wednesday between 1pm and 3pm when Rye Foodbank is open.

A private consultation with a trained expert on all state benefits related issues and housing related issues is available either face-to-face or via video link.  This service is provided at Rye Foodbank in conjunction with Hastings Advice and Representation Centre (HARC) and Rother District Council (RDC).

The food bank has been providing a welfare consultation service with HARC for some time and it has proven very successful, with many finding they are eligible for payments over and above what they have been receiving. RDC will provide advice and assistance on all aspects of housing and statutory provision. This includes housing provision, maintenance and council tax advice and will be provided via a direct video link.

This new service is open to anyone who would find it helpful. In the first instance it is advisable to call the food bank on 07526 349847 for an appointment – this is solely to avoid waiting times. Alternatively, please send an email to ryefoodbank@gmail.com to book an appointment, or just come along in person on Wednesday afternoons between 1pm and 3pm.
