Log thefts

Sussex Police are investigating after £500 worth of chestnut and oak logs were stolen from forestry coppicing in Udimore between March 5 and 7.
Two people were seen driving a red Toyota Hilux with ladders on the roof and a logo on the driver’s door.
The first suspect is described as aged between 40-60 years, average build, around 5’10” with shaved or very short hair. He was wearing a long-sleeved purple jumper.
The second suspect is described as aged between 16-22 years, slim build, with dark hair which is longer on top. He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, an orange reflective jacket and dark trainers.

There’s a full meeting of Rye Town Council on Monday, March 24. The agenda includes a discussion on how the town hall “might engage with parishioners and other Rye stakeholders.”
Also on the agenda, the Rye Neighbourhood Plan and the leisure centre.
The meeting at the town hall starts at 6:30pm and is open to the public as always.
Wealden Literary Festival

After a one year hiatus, the Wealden Literary Festival returns to the lovingly restored Boldshaves House garden, in the Wealden area of outstanding natural beauty. Taking place over the midsummer weekend of June 21-22 it celebrates nature, creativity and the outdoors, with talks by authors, workshops, camping, craft stalls and activities for children.

Tibbs Farm music festival announced
A new music festival with a twist, called Hike to the Mic, is to take place at Tibbs Farm on Saturday, July 5. The day starts at Hastings with a group hike, a pause at Charles Palmer Vineyard, finishing the day at Tibbs Farm for the main event. It will be a day of hiking, community, music, good food and craft beer from The Hastings Project. Bands taking part include Samuel Ashton and the Instincts, and The Gulls, with more to be announced. Rye Society of Artists at Rye Art Gallery

Opening with a private view on March 22 from 11am, is the annual Rye Society of Artists spring show at Rye Art Gallery. Featuring over 150 newly created artworks, the exhibition celebrates the work of over 40 local artists and includes paintings, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and photography. The exhibition runs until May 5 at 107 High Street, open Monday to Saturday 11am-5pm, Sunday 11am-4pm, closed Tuesdays.
