QR code for update Rye Neighbourhood plan

The consultation on the updated Rye Neighbourhood Plan closes in just over a week. The plan, which has been in force since 2019, plays a vital role in decisions on planning and development in the town. It has been reviewed following changes to national policy and the new Rother Local Plan.

The consultation ends on Tuesday, November 26 at 4:30pm. Please scan the QR code to download the reviewed plan. You can read more information about the updated plan on Rye Town Council’s website and a copy is available to view at Rye Library, 30 High Street, TN31 7JG (open Monday to Saturday from 10am, closing times vary)

Comments can be submitted via the Rye Town Council website, or by post or in person to Rye Town Hall, Market Street, Rye TN31 7LA (open Monday – Thursday, 10am – 1pm).

Airbnbs on the agenda

Airbnb office

Plans to measure the number of holiday lets and second homes in Rye, Winchelsea and Camber are being discussed by Rother District Council next week. The council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting on Monday, November 18 is being asked to agree the terms of reference to the review which will report in June 2025.

The review will also look at how similar sized communities use tourist taxes, planning restrictions and additional council tax to manage the issue.

Another big win 

Rye Town FC thrashed JC Tackleway 7-1 away on Saturday November 9. Two from Sam Hesmer and one each from Sam Henham, Seb Kane, Lennon Powell, Harley Osborne and Cam Thompson saw the team stay top of the east Sussex Football League Premier Division.

This Saturday Rye Town FC are at home to Jester Town. Kick off at the rugby ground is at 2pm.

Charity art auction

Late afternoon Rye Watersports Centre by Georgie Watson is one of the lots up for auction

Paintings of Rye, Camber and Iden are amongst the almost forty lots up for auction raising money for Rye Hospital on Friday November 29. The auction, which also includes sculptures, will see 25% of each sale being given to the hospital charity.

Jeremy Sparks will be the auctioneer for the event which starts at 7pm. Tickets cost £10 but free to register online with more information on the charity’s website.
