Speeding checks

Cars seized after speeding checks

Two cars were seized and drivers of both cars were summoned to court after being stopped by speeding checks in Rye on Thursday, September 12.

Sussex Police say one driver was also found to be driving without insurance, while another was discovered driving with only a provisional licence, not displaying L plates, and without a supervising driver present.
For the record
Rye Town Hall

At Rye Town Council’s planning and townscape committee meeting on Monday, September 16, four planning submissions (Norman House, Wish House, Rye Heritage Centre, Rye Club) were supported, some with conditions.

The Rye Club submission included the installation of solar panels, and this stimulated a debate in the committee on the need for a general policy on the use of solar panels in conservation areas – balancing their clear advantages against the overall look of Rye.

The updated Rye Neighbourhood Plan was also discussed, with the process now entering a six-week consultation period before its submission to Rother District Council – with a final revised plan due in spring 2025.

Everyone is welcome to pay their respects to John at the service which will take place at St Mary’s Church, Rye, on Tuesday, October 1 at 1pm.
