Painting the town yellow

East Sussex Highways will be carrying out their ‘Road Lining Refreshment’ programme in Rye from Tuesday, December 12 2017 to Thursday, December 14 2017. The repainting of the yellow lines around town will take place at night between 7pm and 6am.

The works will be carried out on the following roads:

East Street
Market Road
Market Street
Lion Street
The Mint
Wish Street
Deadmans Lane
B2089
Fishmarket Street
Cinque Ports Street
Tower Street
Rye Road
East Cliff

  1. Will the yellow lines stop offenders? I think not. Just this afternoon 15/12, I witnessed a van parked part way on the curb in High Street, while on the direct opposite side of the road a blue mini was parked with both offside wheels on the pavement by Boots. The council can paint as many lines as they wish, but what the town needs is a warden who has the power to issue fines to the culprits.
