The funeral of Dominique Worrall took place on Friday May 18 in St Mary’s Church, Rye. The service was conducted by Canon David Frost and attended by well over 100 mourners. Family and friends had set up a fund-raising page to pay for her funeral, enough to pay for the elegant glass-sided hearse drawn by four beautiful white horses with lilac plumes.
Mother of two, Dominique Worrall had recently moved from Ashford to Camber Sands. She sadly met her death in suspicious circumstances on February 20 on the London-bound stretch of the M20, near Ashford, as reported at the time.
In the course of his address, Canon Frost said “It’s always sad when people who have died like Dominique did, come to be defined by the manner of their death. It’s clear that she was so much more than the untimely death she suffered.
“The task of sorting out what happened to Dominique on that day, and seeing that justice is done is not what this service is about, and it is not our responsibility. We have come today to celebrate her life and give thanks for all she means to those who knew her and loved her.
“We also know that Dominique loved her children, her parents and her wider family and her friends. We know that she had the ability to touch the lives of people in significant ways, by her smile, her personality and her kindness.
“It’s a jumbled up day with so many emotions all mixed up together. Bittersweet perhaps describes it best. It is as it should be. Ultimately, we know that God is the source of healing; bringing promise, forgiveness, and most importantly … hope.
May you experience that healing and that hope for yourselves as you mourn Dominque’s passing today. May God bless you.”
