On Wednesday, May 17 at 11:59am RNLI were paged by HM Coastguard and the Atlantic 85 was launched at 12:05pm. They were tasked to assist a fishing boat in the river Rother. It had lost its rudder and propulsion. Luke Bishop, helm, said: “There were three people on board and arriving at the scene we ensured that there were no injuries. We established a tow alongside and returned the boat and its crew to their mooring on the river Brede.”

The lifeboat returned to the station was cleaned and refuelled and ready for service by 1pm.

Luke continued: “All the crew worked really well together to launch the lifeboat and recover the fishing boat swiftly. It was good to see the crew and their boat safely moored before we left.”

It was, as always, a great team effort on shore and in the boat.
