Holes all filled, awaiting top coat of tarmac

The gas contractors have nearly finished their work at Bridge Place (see main photo at top taken mid-week) by Rye’s railway bridge and all the excavations have been filled in.

However the resurfacing in Bridge Place looks temporary and the main road will need a resilient resurfacing before it re-opens.

The huge hole is awaiting its tarmac hat

Rye Hill may therefore be open again to traffic either the  morning of Good Friday (April 10), or during the course of the day, or Saturday morning at the very latest.

However the work in Military Road uncovered more pipework in need of replacement so the workmen will be back sometime, but with traffic lights to keep vehicles moving.

Things are about to get better at the Bridge Place junction
