Last time there were roadworks in the Rye area (on the A268) there were considerable problems, and roadworks are back again shortly on the B2082 at Iden Bridge on the Wittersham Road, over the River Rother between Iden and the Isle of Oxney.
This road is the bus route between Rye and Tenterden, but delays should be only at daytime traffic lights. However, from Monday June 5 the bridge will be closed for five nights between 10pm and 5am.
This should not affect buses, but motorists and other vehicles may have long diversions to find another bridge over the Rother. The likely routes from Rye are either via Peasmarsh or along the Military Road.
The work is due to take three weeks with workmen on site from 7am to 5pm each day.
During the day there will be two-way temporary lights with a temporary speed limit of 30mph.
