A new online community lottery to be launched in Rother this spring will ensure vital financial support for local causes.
Rother District Council (RDC) will launch the Rother Community Lottery offering players the chance to win a £25,000 jackpot while supporting a range of community projects across the district.
Tickets will go on sale in late March for the first draw to be held at the end of April. Ahead of this, local organisations are being urged to sign up for free and become lottery beneficiaries.
A virtual event is being planned for Tuesday, February 17 giving representatives from local groups a chance to find out more details. Those interested should register at: www.rother.gov.uk/benefits-grants-and-funding/community-grants-scheme/rother-community-lottery-virtual-information-event/
Councillor Susan Prochak, deputy leader at RDC, said; “I am delighted the Rother Community Lottery is being launched this spring. Many local good causes are finding it increasingly difficult to raise funds for the valuable community work they provide. The lottery will help charities, not-for-profit community and voluntary groups that work right across Rother district.”
Tickets will cost £1 and good causes in Rother will be able to set up their own lottery page and will receive 50p in every pound spent by players accessing their page. A further 10p from the ticket price will go into a general good causes fund, with the remainder put towards prizes, operating costs, and VAT.
Players who do not wish to support a specific cause can still take part in the lottery, with 60p of their ticket price going into the general good causes fund, which will be distributed by the council.
Matching six numbers will win players the £25,000 jackpot, but other prizes are up for grabs including £2,000, £250, and £25 prizes, and free tickets.
