A new online lottery aimed at helping local good causes is set to start in April.

The Rother Community Lottery is a weekly lottery that aims to help raise money for many charities, the not-for-profit community, and voluntary groups that work within Rother district. From every £1 lottery ticket purchased, 60p will go towards good causes.

Players of the Rother Community Lottery have a 50 to one chance of winning one of the prizes, which range from the £25,000 jackpot to three extra tickets. Players can choose who their ticket purchase will support. They can either support the Community Fund, where funds are distributed to the local community projects, or they can nominate a specific good cause to support.

Winners are notified by email when they win. To claim their winnings, they log into the lottery site and choose to have their winnings paid directly to a nominated bank account or donate their winnings back to the good cause they support.

The first draw will take place on Saturday, April 30. Tickets are on sale from March 22.

  1. Another way to relieve the poorer members of the community of their limited financial resources. And ironically, all in the name of charity (but in reality it’s just taxation by another name).

  2. All these fund raising ventures are the same, Red Nose Day is a classic, a group of very rich so called celebrities they ing to persuade us to part with our hard earned money, while they get publicity and a knighthood.
Google wages of charity CEO’s to see where some of your hard earned donations are going or pick any top end charity and ask the same question.
    Charity is big business.
