Grand Designs and the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) have once again teamed up to find the House of the Year (HOTY) and RX Architects have made it to the short-list.

Initially, they entered the regional RIBA awards in the South-East. A longlist is drawn up and RIBA then send their judges to trim it down to a short list. Those chosen then go forward to the regional awards programme and RX Architects won for their region.

These builds are projects of architectural note; they include schools, hospitals, libraries and houses. The next step is to be chosen to go forward to the National awards. The one-off private houses are in a sub-category and Channel 4/Grand Designs produce a fascinating programme featuring the RIBA House of the Year. They film twenty five longlisted houses and then choose the final five to be in each programme. One house is finally selected as the winner from Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales. The programme is on Channel 4 on Wednesday evening at 9pm and there are two more weeks to go until the winner is announced on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. The award celebrates excellence and innovation in home design.

RX Architects’ house Sea Breeze on Camber Sands has featured in the Sunday Times, Elle magazine and RIBA’s Journal. It is a stunning building standing proudly on the beach and showcases the amazing architecture of this innovative practice of architects.
