The annual Rye News home brew sloe gin competition will be held on Friday March 15 from 7:30 pm at Olde Worlde Wines, 56 Cinque Ports Street. Judging will begin at 8pm
Entries should be in a glass container containing at least 100ml of sloe gin for judging (more if possible so we all can have a taste) and be labelled with the name of person entering.

Sloe gin makers can also leave their entries at Olde Worlde Wines for the competition.
It must be homemade. All entries will be blind tasted by the judges.

This year Rye News is hosting a Rye gin week, starting on March 15 with the annual sloe gin competition. Thoughout the following week there will be a gin trail around Rye. By buying a gin at each hostelry and shop and collecting a token, you could win a prize.

The week finishes with a gin night at the Mermaid Hotel where you can enjoy sloe gin and classic gin cocktails.

Also other gin events on the night to be arranged details to follow.
We still want more venues on the gin trail so contact Dennis (see below). Four pubs and one shop have expressed an interest so far.

Contact Dennis Leeds-George at leedsgeorge1@btconnect.com or phone tel 01797 222396 if you want to join the trail.
