Casuals find their scoring boots

The Casuals 2nd team went down 4-3 to Battle Baptists III at the Recreation Ground after a hard fought game, with Battle’s winning goal coming 30 seconds from the end.

Mike Beaumont headed the Casuals in front from Paul Daniel’s corner after only 3 minutes. After Battle had levelled the score, Mick Richards restored the lead with a sweet 25 yard left-footed strike into the top corner. Battle came back again only for Lee Pierce to make it 3-2 on the stroke of half-time from Jon Fitton’s free-kick. Battle drew level once more early in the second half before the late winner.

The 1st team were in goalscoring form on Saturday with a 9-1 victory away to Peche Hill Select II. The team were 5-0 up at the interval going on to increase the lead in the second half before Peche Hill pulled a goal back.

Phil Badrock helped himself to six goals, while Steffan Davies netted a brace with Asa Croucher notching the other goal.

Icklesham Casuals 1st teams next game will be home to Hastings Rangers on Saturday April 30, then they travel away to face Eastbourne Athletic in their final game of the season on Tuesday May 3.
