The 1st team of Icklesham Casuals went to the top of Division Two of the East Sussex League on Saturday with a 3-0 away win against St Leonards Social II.

With a slightly different line-up, due to a few players being unavailable, the Casuals struggled in the first half and it was St Leonards Social who had the upper hand and missed a few chances, so the score remained 0-0 at the interval.

A much improved second half saw Icklesham take the game to Social and just before the hour mark a few intricate passes left Sean Baker to place the final ball in the back of the net. A somewhat fortunate goal put the Casuals 2-0 up when the ball bounced back off Steffan Davies’ head and rolled into the net and the match was settled with a neat finish from Dave Pugh.

The second team went down 5-1 at home to a useful Herstmonceux II side although they held their opponents at 1-1 for much of the game and were reduced to 10 men in the second half. Jon Fitton netted the Icklesham goal with an excellent long-range strike.
