The Ashford and District Junior Season concluded last Thursday with the Under 13 Cup Final. Rye hosted Folkestone, an undefeated team, who have been too strong for all their opponents. Folkestone racked up 180-0 off 20 overs. In reply Rye were dismissed for 120. Olly Balcomb, 30 retired, led the scoring. It was a very good effort by the team for whom all but 3 players can play in the team next season.

It has been an enjoyable season with nearly 40 Junior games played. The highlights are:

Under 15 – Joseph Kemsley top run scorer in the League / Tom O’Neill 3rd highest run scorer
Under 11B – Division Winners / Freddie Furnival top run scorer in the Division
Under 11A – Charlie Cooke 3rd highest wicket taker in the Division

This season 85 young people have been involved in the summer’s hard ball and soft ball programme. The weather has only added to the fun.

The autumn Coaching Programme starts on Thursday October 6 at Rye Sports Centre. 6pm -7pm for Under 11 (Years 6 and Below) 7pm-8pm for Under 13 & 15. (Years 7-10) The cost is £40. Contact Martin Blincow blincsfamily@aol.com
