Déjà vu for Rye Town FC

The same venue, the same score!  Saturday October 6 and following the previous weeks historic game played at Rye Rugby club, Rye Town FC entertained Bexhill AAC.

Is this really going to be a lucky ground for our local football team?

As last week against Northiam 75 I the teams went in at half time with a goalless score.  Once again minutes after the half time interval Rye Town conceded for the second week in a row.  It wasn’t until on the hour that an own goal by Bexhill let Town FC back into the game and put them on level terms.  Rye Towns tails were now up and in the 66th and 74th minutes goals from Barnaby Osborne and Sammy Foulkes respectively put Town FC in a commanding lead.  Bexhill managed to pull one back in the 77th minute to make the final 15 so interesting, but Rye Town held on for a consecutive 3-2 home win.

Rye Town’s man of the match award, sponsored by Rye Heating, went to Andy Garman.  The match was sponsored by EW Production Services.

More good news followed this week as Rye Town were pleased to announce that Rye Rugby Club will be their new Home Ground. The Football Club would like to thank Rye Cricket Club for all their help and support over the years. Without this, they wouldn’t have the club that they have today and are truly grateful. The Football Club will also be on the look out to build new changing and storage facilities and hope to build a shelter for supporters, and maybe even some dug outs. If anyone can help with any of this it would be greatly appreciated.

This week Saturday October 13 Rye Town host St Leonards Social in the Robertsbridge Intermediate Cup at Rye Rugby Club. Kick off is 3pm, Rye Rugby Team also have a cup game at 2pm.  Everyone is invited to come and support both clubs, the bar and Cafe will be open for refreshments.  The game will be sponsored by the Mermaid Inn, Rye.
