Beckley Rangers Eagles U18s were away at the weekend in the Crowborough League Cup football match against Tonbridge Invicta and before kick-off at 11am the teams and supporters observed 2 minutes silence.
From the kick-off Rangers looked in control and came away with a comfortable victory away at Tonbridge, with the fixture being switched due to a poor Peasmarsh pitch. And it did not take long for Beckley to settle with Lucas Zon running clear to fire home the first goal, 1-0.
Charlie Smith added Rangers’ second, smashing the ball home from eight yards. Then centre back Charlie Newman got in on the act finishing off some good work from a pass by Ollie Skinner 3-0. Skinner himself added the fourth before halftime for Beckley.
The second half started with with the manager Rob Sayer making changes to the team, but Beckley were in total control and, with Tommy Ackerley rounding off the scoring and Beckley winning 5-0, Rangers saw themselves into the the next round of the League cup. The Lankelma and MPL productions’ Man of the Match was shared between Charlie Smith and Ben Nicholas.
