LS Coaching is a small, locally-run sports company offering high-quality sports provision, coaching and sports camps around East Sussex.
Liam Sayer explained how it all began: “I started my company in 2022 after years of teaching PE in lots of different schools. We are now in four different primary schools, which is fantastic. Having grown up near Rye, as well as working at Rye Community Primary for many years, it has always been a vision of mine to get back to the area and give back to the community through running my holiday camps and putting on sports clubs.
“With my personal experiences in sport and the knowledge I’ve gained through teaching in various schools, I know the importance of keeping active and healthy, and the huge impact this has on our children’s mental health.”
There is a great deal of research at the moment that links physical activity to improvements in educational achievement. Sport helps children develop character, resilience and to learn important social and brain skills such as problem-solving, perseverance, confidence and teamwork.
Liam continues: “Next week on April 3, 4 and 5 will be another Easter sports camp at Rye Primary School, TN31 7ND, from 9 till 3, and I am hopeful that these will be something I can continue to run and grow for many years to come. During week two there are three days also: April 10, 11 and 12.
“As someone who has always had a love of sport, it’s great to see so many children thrive when taking part in a range of different activities who might not necessarily feel they are successful at school.
“We are expanding the business in the next academic year after being approached by some new schools so I shall be looking to recruit more staff to deliver after-school clubs in local schools and assist with holiday clubs.”
