Rye LTC held the Quorn Family Tennis Cup for the first time last Sunday April 28. This is an informal competition sponsored by Quorn in association with the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association, the tennis governing body). The Juniors taking part had to be 10yrs and under, playing doubles with an adult family member. All players (including adults) played with 21-23in  rackets and only red balls (full size but soft and designed for juniors to learn with) were used.

The format was 15-minute timed matches, played as a round robin with tie-break scoring.
All matches were played in a fantastic spirit with very healthy competitive edge to them.
Playing with red compression balls creates long, exciting rallies, great teamwork and lots of fun.

The winners Daisy and Joshua Edmonson and runners-up Nick and Eddie Baxter report back to LTA where where they are eligible for an invitation day coming up soon. The invitation day includes a visit to a LTA Summer Grass Court event with an opportunity not only to see the professionals play but also to play on the same grass themselves.

The Quorn family tournament is a very healthy, cheap fun way to spend an afternoon with all family included.
