Rye Town FC, the current holders of the ESFL Premier Travel Chauffeurs Challenge Cup, travelled to Northiam 75 I in the quarter-final. With Town placed 5th in the league table and Northiam lying in 8th this was a great opportunity to progress into the semi-finals of this year’s competition.
A fine performance from Rye Town saw them take the lead in the 33rd minute with a goal from Rob Levett and in the 57th minute Levett struck with his second goal of the game, that finished off Northiam who could only manage a 90th minute consolation goal.
Town travelled back home with a 2-1 victory and hoping their endeavour can repeat itself once again. Town’s man of the match award went to Steve Thompson who put in an outstanding performance. The game sponsors were The Queen’s Head, Rye.
St Leonards Social are the visitors to Rye Rugby Club this Saturday, January 26. Kick off is at 2pm and the match sponsor is Pete the Pane Window Cleaning Services.
Saturday, February 2 sees the visit of Bexhill Utd II in the quarter-finals of the Robertsbridge Intermediate Cup, kick off is at 1:30pm. The match sponsor is The Mermaid Inn, Rye.
