Last Sunday saw Rye Bowls Club beat Iden Bowls Club, at home, to continue their run of winning matches. The final score was Rye 80 shots, to Iden’s 37 shots. This earned Rye a further 10 league points.

Further excitement happened when one Rye team achieved ‘Hot Shot’ status, by scoring 9 shots on one end – the maximum possible. Roy Dyer, Tony Kember and Colin Yellop will now join the elite ranks of the Hot Shot club. Well done guys!

The Bowls International Hot Shots club is famous throughout the bowls playing world. It was launched more than 20 years ago to reward players achieving a maximum score on one end of a competitive pairs, triples or fours match, and remains as popular as ever.

Just for fun, or competition? If you are interested in trying out the game there are ‘roll-ups’ held on the club green at the Salts each Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings (May – September), starting at 10:30am, unless there is a match on that day. Just turn up and introduce yourselves. We will provide bowls and someone to show you the ropes, just wear flat shoes please. Alternatively call the club captain on 01797 280457 for more information and to arrange a time more suited to you.
