Rye Town FC travelled to league leaders Battle Baptist on Saturday, October 20. Rye, with four consecutive wins behind them must have felt this was a good a time as any to be taking on the early season’s in-form team, sitting pretty at the top of the table.

This highly anticipated game kicked off and within a minute Battle Baptist took the lead and 18 minutes later doubled it to go into the half-time break with a commanding 2-0 lead.

Rye Town responded in the second half and a goal from Georges Gouet just before the hour brought Town back into the game and looking to take something away with them for their efforts.  However, it wasn’t to be. In the 78th minute Battle scored their third goal of the game and ran out convincing 3-1 winners.  Rye Town’s man of the match was Sammy Foulkes and the match sponsor was Quayside Cars.
