Rye Cricket Club have finalised the arrangements for the arrival of their 1st XI Overseas Player, Chanuk Dilshan, who will be available for Pre-Season fixtures, starting with Cowdray on Saturday April 15.

Chanuka Dilshan is a hugely talented left-arm spinner playing for Moors Sports Club in Sri Lankan domestic cricket, alongside Test stars Ramish Mendis, and Praveen Jayawickrama,

Over the past calendar year (2022), he has been one of Moors’ stand-out performers. In the most recent SLC Major Clubs Limited Overs Tournament (July 2022), he bagged 26 wickets at 11.73 to top his side’s wicket-charts, all with an economy rate of 3.25 per over.

To date, after 29 List A matches, Dilshan has now taken 55 wickets at 15.21, which represents statistically some of the best figures in Sri Lankan white ball cricket.

In the first-class format, the spinner has enjoyed similar success with 62 wickets at 26.48 in 16 matches, including 21 at 20.66 during the current 2022/23 season.

The left-arm tweaker really is a quality prospect who is now set to embark on his maiden UK stint having signed with Rye for their 2023 Sussex Cricket League campaign.

Dilshan will be part of the Rye cricket coaching programme this summer which starts on Wednesday April 24, 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Rye Cricket Salts for hardball, and the softball sessions, All Stars and Cricket Dynamos starting on Friday May 12, 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

On May 1, the 2nd X1 Overseas Player Aussie Blake Rouse, aged 19, arrives to be part of the League team. He is a seam bowler / middle order batter.

We are still looking for players this Season, for either 1st X1 / 2nd X1 / 3rd X1 so an opportunity to play cricket at a range of levels, but always in a fun and enjoyable environment with excellent facilities, the best offered by any club in the area.
