The 2018 season was the most successful season ever for the Rye cricket club. Building on the League and Cup Double in the Indoor League, the club won Division 4 East of the Sussex League, losing only one game. The 2nd XI finished 5th in Division 6 East, beating teams who only five years ago, were the opposition for the 1st XI.

Rye are not sitting back on their laurels, and planning and preparations have already begun for the 2019 season. A key element of those preparations is the recruitment of an overseas player. The role of the overseas player is the contribution to league matches, and to be a key club member. The overseas player is part of the coaching team for the Colts Friday evening sessions, and he also umpires/coaches at all the Colts fixtures. He also helps with work on the square, especially the rolling of the wicket.

Rye have begun the new process of supporting the overseas player to obtain a visa for the cricket season in 2019. The club is in need of accommodation for the overseas player. The player requires a room, and access to cooking facilities etc. The club has funds to offer a host, for what would be 18 weeks from May to August. If there is a possible host in Rye who might be able to support Rye Cricket Club, please contact Martin Blincow on blincsfamily@aol.com.
