This Sunday Rye CC will be holding its AGM. at 7:30pm at the Sidney Allnutt Pavilion, on the cricket salts.
Members will be reflecting on a successful 2017, in which all three Saturday teams finished high in their respective divisions, and all four Colts teams enjoyed high levels of participation and enjoyment. The high point perhaps of the playing season was the victory over the MCC.
The meeting will be tinged with sadness, as the club remembers Richard Merricks who passed away suddenly in June. He was a member of Rye for over 50 years, and the club is planning a Memorial game on August 7. Rye Cricket Club will play Western Court Wanderers, Richard’s own team.
Off the field Rye has continued to upgrade the pavilion facilities, with an extension to the upstairs area and a new window. Plans are in place to improve disabled access and to develop a patio area for the pavilion.
Looking forward to 2018, Rye can announce it has secured another year of sponsorship from local solicitors Heringtons. Pictured is Richard Fisher from Heringtons and Martin Blincow, the Rye CC Secretary, with the entrance sign to the Rye Cricket Salts.
Winter coaching commences on February 21 for the Colts Section, with outdoor coaching commencing on Friday May 4. With the newly restructured Sussex Cricket League, 2018 beckons to be another exciting year at Rye Cricket Club. Anybody wishing to get involved, boys or girls of any age, please contact Secretary Martin Blincow on blincsfamily@aol.com
