Although we are in the coldest part of winter so far, Rye Cricket Club on Sunday evening January 26, will be thinking of hot sunny days and evenings on the Rye Cricket Salts, as they hold their AGM at 7pm at the Sidney Allnutt Pavilion on the Rye Cricket Salts.
The evening will reflect on the successes of the 2019 season, both on and off the field, as the club is now playing at the highest level in the Sussex cricket pyramid in its 266 year history. The club has also invested in the pavilion, with the extended social area upstairs, the disabled toilet to be upgraded shortly as we await changes to the pavilion lease, and improvements to the social facilities downstairs, including the installation of Wi-Fi.
The 2020 season has already started with success. Last week the club was presented with £750 by the Rye Fund to support the Junior Coaching programme. This is in addition to successful bids with the Ted Baker Trust and Active Rother. The very next day 20 young people took part in the first of three free taster sessions at Rye Sports Centre. There is an open invitation to any girl or boy to attend the final taster session next Thursday from 5pm to 6pm.
The AGM will be electing the officers for the year, and there will be a consultation on the club constitution, and on the club’s five year development plan.
