Rye Juniors continue to enjoy their cricket, developing skills and forging friendships. This week the Under 11A team defeated Tenterden on Monday away by 4 runs. Bertie Furnival 22 and Hugo Miller 27 top scored. The Under 11B team lost at home to Egerton A team, who were far too strong for the B team who were only playing their 2nd or 3rd game of cricket. However they took wickets and hit boundaries.
The U15s travelled to Egerton U15s with only 10 men. Rye scored 118-7 off 20 overs as Nathan Paine retired not out 52. Everybody else chipped in. In reply James Archer 3-13 struck early, supported by Matthew Best 2-6 and Charley Prentice 2-11 as they bowled Egerton out for 110 in the 20th over.
The Under 13s enjoyed a 45 run victory over Tenterden. Skipper Freddie Furnival hit 30 retired Not Out and then Bast Bowley 22 and Charlie Cook 25 hit a 65 run partnership as Rye closed on 150-6. Tenterden fell short on 106-8 with Lexy Tuddenham 3-0 the pick of the bowlers.
Next week the U11a team travel to Ashford, the U11b Team host Tenterden U11b team at Rye on Monday. On Tuesday the U15s host Folkestone as 1st plays 2nd, then on Thursday the U13s travel to Egerton.
