Summer is just around the corner – we know that because the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) have just announced the dates for the pre-Wimbledon warm-up tournament at Devonshire Park, Eastbourne. While this may not strictly be within the area covered by Rye News, nevertheless we know that many of us make the trip to Eastbourne to see the top names of the game live and at close quarters, so here are the details:
The Aegon International Eastbourne returns to Devonshire Park on June 23 to July 1, and as the men’s tennis re-joins the women’s for the first time in 3 years, 2017 is set to be a spectacular year. So ride the wave of world class tennis this summer, tickets on sale now!
This year, Devonshire Park will play host to an array of world class male and female players, with Eastbourne’s very own Johanna Konta leading the way. The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) today announced that British No.1 and World. No.10 Konta will be returning to her hometown to play this summer.
Speaking about the announcement, Konta said, “Playing at Devonshire Park is very special. I can’t wait to get back on the courts, just a stone’s throw from my family home in Eastbourne. I’ve seen exciting plans for the future of the venue, and with the men coming back this year will no doubt add extra excitement. It’s always an amazing player field, and I’m sure the fans will enjoy lots of world class tennis.”
Early bird tickets go on sale on today, with a £5 discount applicable for adult Centre Court tickets purchased before Thursday May 4.
Families can enjoy a free, fun-filled day of tennis on Friday June 23during the qualifying weekend, where they can watch some of the world’s top players compete for their place in the tournament.
Kids also go free on Saturday June 24th and Sunday June 25 and with adult tickets just £5, everyone can experience a day out at the tennis!
