Town FC through to 2nd cup semi-final

Bexhill Utd were the visitors to Rye Rugby club in this Quarter Final of the Robertsbridge Intermediate Cup tie on Saturday February 23.

With 12 minutes played, Bexhill struck first and went into an early lead. A penalty converted by Rob Levett in the 24th minute brought Rye Town FC level and the teams went into the half-time interval one goal apiece.

Five minutes into the restart and it was Town with a goal from Charlie Stevens that put the home side in front. A second goal from Stevens in the 60th minute made it 3-1 and started a goal rout. Further strikes from Georges Gouet on 75 minutes and a brace from Nathan Sherwood in the 86th and 88th minutes respectively ensured Town sailed into the semi-final with a 6-1 victory, where Town will meet Robertsbridge.

Charlie Stevens was Rye Town’s man of the match and the game sponsors were The Mermaid Inn, Rye.

Next up for Town on Saturday March 2 is an away fixture versus Sedlescombe Rangers in the sem-final of ESFL Premier Travel Chauffeurs Challenge Cup. Rye Town are the current holders of the trophy and will be looking for a repeat of last year. The game sponsors are Dunes Bar & Restaurant. Kick off is at 1:30pm.

Saturday March 9 is the away tie against Robertsbridge in the semi-final of The Robertsbridge Intermediate Cup, kick off 1:30pm. The game sponsors will be EW Production Services Ltd.
