Last week’s Opinion on helping others in need mentioned and pictured Rye’s Street Pastors who recently held their annual meeting in Camber and in particular, who are looking for, and needing, more volunteers.
The street pastors work, usually on weekend evenings, with and for those who may be in a vulnerable situation and need help and support.
The pastors first featured in Rye News four years ago, and were set up with the support of Rye Churches Together. The principal contact is Dr Nizam Mohammed and they can usually be contacted through your local church.
They operate mainly in Rye, Camber, Rye Harbour and Winchelsea Beach where people may be out late at night, and comprehensive training is provided to support the volunteers.
For more information, and/or to offer help, contact rye@streetpastors.org.uk, or via streetpastors.org/locations/rye.
