Congratulations to the pupils of Rye Dance Centre who have been participating in the All-England semi-finals in Crawley during the recent half-term break. Some 22 items had reached this stage of the competition with a further two still to be performed this weekend (June 9).

Costumes were colourful and original

All of the students gave of their best and many items received ‘Distinction with Special Commendation’, which is the next mark down from honours, and the possibility to perform at the finals to be held in High Wycombe in July.

Junior competitor Ellie Chapman achieved first place with honours in the 11-to-12-year-old character section and a place in the finals.

During the same week another junior member Kailash Davy was able to fit in a very busy week in a performance of her modern solo at Ore Festival and achieved a Bronze/third-place medal.

There were solo dances as well as groups

Well done to all, super achievements and a big thank you to the parents for running the children around and to the teachers and helpers.

The school will be performing many of the All-England items in their Rye Festival performance at the Rye Community Centre on Friday September 13. Please come along and support us.
