Last weekend club members were on the Cricket Salts getting the ground and the facilities ready for the 2025 season. The recent dry weather has seen the square lose its moisture content making the necessary pre-season rolling a challenge. Time was spent getting water into the square before rolling and the square is looking in good shape. The boundary has been marked out and the weekly mowing of the Salts has seen the grass height reduced, before we switch to a cylinder sit-on mower to achieve the low cut of the outfield.
Around the Salts the mobile nets and fixed nets have been prepared and the covers assembled, all ready for the first outdoor session on Friday, April 18. This Friday from 7pm – 8:30pm is the final indoor session at Claremont School in Bodiam.
The juniors continue Wednesday nets at Rye Leisure Centre until April 23. Then it is signing on night at Rye Salts on Friday, April 25 from 7pm. The cost for hardball is £70 which covers 12 practice sessions starting Wednesday, April 30 from 6pm – 8pm, all matches, a club shirt and family membership of Rye CC. The cost for softball is £30 which covers eight one-hour sessions starting on Sunday, May 11 from 10am for 6-9 year olds and 11am-noon for 10-12 year olds.
All juniors will be involved in matches, mainly in the Ashford League, with under 11s playing Mondays, under 16s on Tuesdays and under 13s on Thursdays.

Well done to everyone for getting the Cricket Salts looking so good! The grass looks better than it has for years which is great news when you consider RyeCC have been completely responsible for its upkeep for the first time.
PLEASE can everyone who uses the field help look after it by putting rubbish in the bins provided and picking after your dog.
