It wasn’t long ago that Rye News featured a local success story, Waterworks wins CAMRA award when Rye’s first micropub run by David, Ullah and Eddie Roder had their hard work and dedication recognised. A great start for a new business but as the saying goes, ‘success breeds success’ and the good news continues.
Shortly to be published is the Good Beer Guide 2020 and in it, as well as the Ypres Castle Inn, under the Rye heading is Waterworks!
This is the real-ale drinkers’ bible, the Haynes Guide equivalent to all the best watering holes in the country, and to feature in it is praise indeed. As well as confirming the address and opening times the description reads as follows.
“Eight changing beers (sourced locally) in a building dating from 1718, this former pump house, soup kitchen, public toilet and antique shop opened in May 2018 as a micropub serving local ales, ciders and soft drinks, all sourced within a 22-mile radius of Rye.
As the area’s first micropub it has had a big impact on the local community. It currently stocks eight ales and 12 ciders, food includes pork pies and scotch eggs with chutney, all home-made”
The guide will shortly be available to the general public but until then Waterworks is open as usual from 2pm to 11pm (from 12 noon Saturday & Sunday) during the summer, and in winter 2pm to 10pm (11pm Friday), 12 noon to 11pm Saturday, and on Sundays 12 noon to 10pm.
