Will the Javelin be thrown?

There were intended to be two presentations following the Marsh Link Action Group (MLAG) AGM on May 3, by Southern Railways and Network Rail. Because of the snap election being called, Network Rail was put into purdah until after the election and so its presentation had to be deferred. A summary of the Southern presentation and the following Q&A session are already available at Rye News.

We have now arranged for the Network Rail presentation to take place from 7pm (for 7:15pm) on Thursday June 15 at Rye Town Hall. The presenter is one of the authors of the Kent Area Route Study which was issued by Network Rail in March. This is a consultation document requiring responses by June 30. From MLAG’s point of view, the main item in this study relates to the proposed extension of the St Pancras to Ashford Javelin service to Rye, Hastings and Bexhill (possibly also on to Eastbourne). The study itself can be found online.

To find the relevant documents, click on the link and scroll down to “South East planning” and then on to the various Kent Route Study documents.

There are extensive references in the study to the works required to enable the Javelin service to operate on the MarshLink, most particularly in the Technical Appendix, Pages 19-37.

We hope you will be able to get to this meeting and add your voice, whether in favour of this development or not.
