The team behind Tilling, Tea and Cake are launching a new social group in Winchelsea. The befriending service starts next week Wednesday, April 30 at Winchelsea Beach Community Hall 10-12pm.

It is being organised by FAiR (Friends Altogether in Rother). Founder Chris Pollard says the new group will build on the charity’s work in Rye. “We are following the successful ‘monthly informative social event’ at Tilling Green where over the last 18 months we have provided information by local services and quality tea, coffee and cake.”

Jan Crook has arranged for the new befriending group to start at Winchelsea Beach. “We have now secured the hall to deliver Winchelsea Tea and Cake on the last Wednesday of each month. Our vision is to combat loneliness and isolation in Rural Rother by hosting inclusive social gatherings in villages to facilitate fun, friendship and easy access to services and information.”

The local co-op is supplying some of the cakes and biscuits. Jan Crook says everyone is invited. “All ages, anyone and everyone, are most welcome to join us, including family and professional carers. All venues are disability and mobility accessible.”
